In the February 2010 issue of the International Journal of Oncology, the report shows homeopathic medicine curing breast cancer. According to scientists at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, led by Dr. Moshe Frenkel, they have shown the beneficial effects of 4 homeopathic medicines on breast cancer cells. For some this might be extremely exciting news, but for others this could be common knowledge. Homeopathic medicine works. Let me explain.
October 2011 in Toronto I heard two doctors explain their 10 year process with the National Cancer Institute, NCI. The names of the doctors are Dr.s Banerji, a father and son team from India where homeopathic medicine is common medicine. Their 10 year journey began when the NCI put a call out for any complimentary health modality to submit their research on cancer cures. The Banerji’s submitted their research on homeopathic medicine and lung cancer, as well as homeopathic medicine and brain tumours. I sat in awe as I listened to the strength of these two doctors from India withstand 10 years of scrutiny by the NCI, medical professionals, scientists and other health care professionals. 10 years later their research was accepted and written in the Oncology journal. Not only has their work been accepted but the NCI has traveled to India to learn from these two doctors.
Now, medical professionals have started to look at other homeopathic medicine and their benefits for other cancers. Thus the study from the University of Texas, “ The “Banerji protocols” use homeopathic medicine to treat patients suffering with cancers. The NCI, after reviewing the progress of the patients, confirmed that there was enough positive response to support the call for further research into the area of homeopathic treatment of cancer.” “ The homeopathic remedies appeared to have similar activity to the activity of Taxol, the most commonly used chemotherapeutic drug for breast cancer, without the toxic effect on the normal cells. Isn’t that encouraging! As for me, I am grateful that more truth about homeopathic medicine is coming to the surface.
Let’s go back into history. Over the past 6 months I have read more books from doctors in North America that have used homeopathic medicine for cancer and had a higher success rate in cures then chemotherapy and radiation. Let’s look at Eli G. Jones, M.D., treated over 4000 cases of breast cancer with homeopathic medicine. He practiced medicine in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. In fact he used the same homeopathic medicine used by the University of Texas study and many more depending on the specifics of the cancer. One thing that Dr. Jones believed about breast cancer, you should never squeeze or handle the breast roughly, you should only be gentle and through the physical exam of the breast tumour would you be able to tell what homeopathic medicine should be used. Now if you have ever had a mammogram you know the procedure is anything but gentle.
Most people don’t know the history of homeopathic medicine and that it was the first regulated medicine in Ontario, it was not pharmaceutical medicine. In around the 1970’s homeopathic medicine was de-regulated, I will let you come up with your own reasons why homeopathic medicine was de-regulated but I can guarantee you it wasn’t because it didn’t work, because homeopathic medicine works. In 2005, homeopathic medicine was re-regulated due to the number of people using homeopathic medicine. The Ministry of Health’s responsibility is to protect the public and with more and more people self administering homeopathic medicine, the Ministry of Health took the steps to have it re-regulated.
I realize there are many people who are skeptic about homeopathic medicine. May I remind you that doctors were skeptic and made fun of the theory of washing their hands before surgery in 1847?
Homeopathic medicine is an option for those who want an option to their health and wellness. What you need to understand is anyone regulated under the health act is mandated to work with any other practitioner under the health act for you, the patient, for patient centred care. You have the choice of working with both a medical doctor and any other practitioner under the regulated health act.
It’s your health and wellness. Keep an open mind and check out your options.
