I recently read an article in the health section of the Hamilton Spectator that was originally from The Associated Press titled Second Cancers are on the rise. It states that “nearly 1 in 5 new cases in the US now involves someone who has had the disease before.” The article also stated that; 1) second cancers are a different site, 2) since 1970 the number of first cancers rose 70 per cent where as second cancers rose 300 per cent, 3) there are a number of reasons why people get secondary cancers, a) living longer, b) same gene mutations or risk factors, c) first treatments can cause secondary cancers.
I went to the http://www.cancer.ca/en/cancer-information/diagnosis-and-treatment/chemotherapy-and-other-drug-therapies/chemotherapy/side-effects-of-chemotherapy/?region=on , this is Canadian Cancer Society’s website. Not a natural health website but the Canadian Cancer Society website. I clicked on the tab side effects and this is what it listed, bone marrow suppression, sore mouth, inflamed mucous membranes, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, changes in taste and smell, diarrhea, dehydration, constipation, flue like symptoms, hair loss, skin changes, eye changes, pain, cystitis, bedwetting, weight gain, pain at the injection site, inflamed veins, allergic reactions, fluid retention, organ damage, SECOND CANCERS.
Here is the healthy habit for today, if you have had chemotherapy you might want to consider doing a chelation, chemotherapy detox to help prevent a second cancer. I realize many people have taken chemotherapy and there are a percentage of people that don’t get a second cancer after chemotherapy but I believe in being proactive.
