In last week’s article the last system I wrote about was the digestive system. In this system, is the liver. Today’s healthy habit is a liver cleanse, well not just a liver cleanse but a liver/gall bladder cleanse.
The liver does approximately 500 functions in the body, including but not limited to the following, digestion, metabolism, detoxification, storage of vital nutrients, vitamins and minerals as well as the production of vital protein components of the blood. The liver also functions as part of the immune system.
It is generally overworked and underappreciated!
A very important aspect of the liver is it has the ability to regrow. In fact it can regrow in as little as one month. If you donated part of your liver for an organ transplant, your donated part would be able to regrow. Now that is amazing.
Today I want to tell you about a liver/gallbladder cleanse. If you have had your gallbladder removed you should really be paying attention to this cleanse. When an organ is removed other parts of your finely tuned body have to take over for what the gallbladder use to do. Since the gallbladder is responsible for storage of bile and releasing bile into the small intestines for emulsifying fats and neutralizing acids. If the gallbladder isn’t working properly it can affect cholesterol, bilirubin or bile salts in the body.
Now onto the cleanse. I realize there are many liver and gallbladder cleanses but the following cleanse is the one I use personally and with my patients. You will need organic granny smith apples, a juicer for the apples or you need to buy organic granny smith apple juice. If you can’t buy granny smith apple juice, organic apple juice will do but granny smith apples are higher in malic acid which dissolves gallstones. As well you will need organic apple cider vinegar and cold pressed virgin olive oil. As well you will need to give yourself 24 hours of not straying too far from home. I would also suggest doing a coffee enema but that isn’t an absolute critical aspect for this cleanse.
If you are doing this cleanse for the first time you should take your overall health into consideration and use common sense!
Generally I suggest you eat a light breakfast and lunch, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables up until about noon. As well I would be drinking my daily intake of water before 3 pm the day of the cleanse, when you begin the actual cleanse you will not be drinking any water or any other liquids until the next morning. You should begin the cleanse at 3 pm. Prior to 3 pm you will need to juice the organic granny smith apples, at least 12 to 16 apples.
At 3 pm you will take 1/3rd of a cup of pure cold pressed olive oil and mix it with 2/3rds of a cup of the organic granny smith apple juice, add 1 tsp of organic apple cider vinegar and drink the whole amount all at once. You will mix the same mixture 2 more times and take the mixture at 6 and 9 pm of the same day. Remember you will not be eating anything from 12 pm on and not drinking anything from 3 pm on except you can drink all the organic granny smith or organic apple juice you desire.
You should go to bed shortly after you drink the last mixture. When you are lying in bed you need to be on your right hand side. Your liver and gallbladder are on your right hand side. If you sleep in a different position then on your right hand side you might have to prop pillows around you to hold you in that position.
In the morning you could have a bowel movement that is green in colour, oily texture as well it could have roundish looking deposits throughout. If your bowel movement looked anything as I just described, consider it a very successful liver and gallbladder cleanse.
