Today’s healthy habit goes like this, more is not always better and if you don’t start at the first level of organization of the body you are missing out. There wasn’t an easy way to state that sentence, so let me explain. Patients come to my office with multiply bottles of supplements, some patients, so many bottles that I wonder how they have room to eat food from taking so many supplements. The majority of the bottles are vitamins or a herbal supplement of some kind. Some people feel if one capsule is good for them, then maybe two capsules would be better of the supplement or vitamin. Some as soon as they hear the latest new of something is good for them they add that supplement to their already over done daily supplement regiment.
In most cases people are missing out on the very basic essential aspects for maintaining good health and even life!
As a homeopath and health care practitioner under the regulated health act I had to take an anatomy and physiology course. In fact I have taken two anatomy and physiology courses and thus I have two A & P text books. Both text books start off in chapter one with an introduction to the body and both clearly state that the chemical level which is the atoms and molecules are essential for maintaining life. Both books list atoms and molecules as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium, sulfur, sodium and glucose as part of the atoms and molecules. These atoms and molecules form cells. Then the cells form muscle etc etc. My point is and I have said this over and over again, if you are not putting your minerals in you are missing out. The aforementioned list essential for life are all minerals.
You can take all the vitamins and supplements you want but if a mineral is missing the cells are lacking. You have to go to the basics of basics in the body to have good health. In my opinion you need minerals first, protein and amino acids second, enzymes third and then vitamins. As well just because one new thing out on the market is good for your friend, doesn’t mean it will be what your body needs.
Again in my opinion, there is no science behind this statement, but I think you also need to stop taking a suppliment you take on a regular basis for a period of time. Maybe a month and see if you notice a difference without it. I can tell you that when I stop taking MSM I notice a difference. You should eliminate one suppliment at a time. As well if you are taking a bunch of stuff and you are not feeling any better either the brand of your suppliment isn’t very good or you don’t need it.
Get down to the basics, your body will appreciate it if you put some minerals in first.
